The First Nations Wealth Forum was a high-profile opening event held on 21 June 2022 that jumpstarted a new national policy discussion. Headlining First Nations leaders from across the world, it asked them to consider the question, “How can First Nations people achieve their own wealth?”
Held at the National Press Club, the formal dinner and forum included performances from acclaimed musicians William Barton, Aunty Delmae Barton, and Dobby, and was attended by Indigenous business and community leaders, policymakers, and the national media.
The event included a panel moderated by ANU Chancellor, the Hon. Julie Bishop, and featured prominent and distinguished national and international First Nations leaders, including: Professor Peter Yu AM; Jody Broun (CEO of NIAA); Harold Calla (Executive Chair, First Nations Financial Management Board); Ta (Sir) Mark Solomon (Distinguished Māori leader), and Eric Henson (Research Fellow, Harvard Project on American Indian Economic Development).
